Otter tour 2018/2019 (seven days)

During this week on the island of Mull, we will search for otters, observe them and photograph these beautiful, playful creatures! Mull is known for being an otter “paradise”. With my knowledge about their territories and natural behaviour, fantastic photographs await anybody who brings a bit of patience. The biggest dream of any wildlife photographer!

Recommended equipment:  

The ideal equipment for this given tour is a camera with a telephoto lens (a focal length of 300 to 600 mm). The extended focal length will help you photograph the rather shy animals from a greater distance. Spare batteries, memory cards, a teleconverter, warm and waterproof clothes and shoes, headwear, waterproof gloves, waterproof protection for your backpack, camera and lens are all highly recommended. As the tour will be going all day, you will have to take something to eat and drink along. If you own a tripod and/or a bean bag, I would take them along as well.

What to expect: 

We will be spending quite a lot of time in the outdoors. The rather wet, windy and cold weather conditions during this season call for appropriate clothing. Considering we will often times be sitting or lying on the floor waiting for otters, all clothes should be waterproof. A certain fitness is necessary as are good hiking boots.
